Yet we were soon made aware that all that come to the cliffs, do not come with the same intent:
After we left the cliffs, we drove to the Burren which was pretty breathtaking (Jody you would have loved this). At a local pub we asked for directions to which the bartender causally replied "4 miles and turn left at the castle". Castles are common landmarks here in Ireland.
And then we drove onto Aillwee Cave, also part of the Burren.
And then we had fresh Burren cheese and crackers (FYI Fanta Orange in Ireland is not like Fanta Orange in USA)
Afterwards we drove to Gallway. By the time we arrived and got ready to hit the city, most of the stores were closed (6PM) which meant no shopping. All the pubs were open though and Galway City Center has a very college town feeling. Many of the pubs had crowds of young people outside drinking Guinness and smoking. Kris and I settled on a more relaxed pub with live musicans playing traditional Irish music.
I did notice something that I wish I had a real Irish pal to confirm for me. I think that for bachelor and bachelorette parties people dress in costume. We saw a bunch of guys with top hats and fake beards, then women in 80's clothes (with bride-to-be sashes). Then while sitting at the bar Kris pointed out ANOTHER party of bachelorette women with "beehives". I told him that they were all dressed like Amy Winehouse but he had no clue what that meant.
Do to our late arrival today and early departure tomorrow we did not spend much time in Galway . I am glad that we came but feel like I did not see much of it. Tomorrow we head to Donegal for our longest stretch of travel yet. Kris's driving has gotten way better and my attempt to drive this afternoon lasted about 3 minutes. Oh well, more to come later on.
Oh- from the pictures I absolutely would have loved it, especially the cave part. The Fanta Orange looked just like the one you took a picture of and IS NOT the same as at home... it was so SWEET it made my mouth hurt.

The couple of bachelor parties I went to at home didn't involve any accessories - just obscene amounts of alcohol:) It may have been a stag party from England - Ireland is a popular weekend place for some reason. I would skip the Fanta orange and go straight for the Club Orange!

Looks like you guys are having a lot of fun! The pictures of the cliffs are pretty amazing. I had Fanta in London and it was so gross... I'm sure its the same as the soda in Ireland.
